Suicide risk among transgender and gender-diverse students is severe, and school connectedness plays a real role in protecting against it. This course gives educators, counselors, and school staff the tools to recognize warning signs, build affirming classrooms, and know when and how to connect students with support. Designed for K-12 educators; a parallel course for healthcare and allied health professionals is also available.

Transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) students face suicide risk that is both dramatically elevated and clinically distinct from what most educator training addresses, with a risk window that extends across the school years and often depends heavily on the support students find in their classrooms and hallways. This professional development course equips teachers, school counselors, and administrators with the current, evidence-based knowledge needed to recognize suicide risk factors and warning signs in TGD students, understand the protective role schools genuinely play, and apply gender-affirming, culturally responsive support strategies suited to the K-12 setting. The course covers what educators specifically need to know, and don't need to know, about a student's identity, along with practical guidance on school-based structural changes, privacy protections, and collaboration with school-based mental health staff and outside providers. Educators leave with concrete tools for suicide prevention and support with transgender and gender-diverse students.
